Original painting 48” x 48“ oil on canvas - SOLD

Original painting was inspired by an autumn painting journey along the Donjek River in southwest Yukon. Flowing from the massive Donjek Glacier in Kluane National Park and Reserve, the river winds through one of the most spectacular wilderness landscapes in the Canadian North.

Autumn is one of my favourite times to explore and paint this region. The tundra and river valleys come alive with rich reds, oranges, golds, and ochres, contrasting beautifully with the cool glacial waters and distant mountains.

The name Donjek is derived from the Northern Tutchone words dän jắk, referring to the silverberries or white berries that grow along its banks, adding another layer of connection between the river and the land.
