Original painting is part of my ongoing series inspired by the alpine meadows of Manning Provincial Park in British Columbia and those fleeting moments of light that continually draw me back to the high country.
I especially love the early morning, when the first rays of sunlight begin to touch the grasses and wildflowers. As the light slowly moves across the meadow, colours emerge from the cool shadows and the landscape begins to glow in anticipation of the warmth of the summer day.
These early hours are among my favourite times to paint in the mountains. The air is often perfectly still, the light is soft and delicate, and there is a wonderful sense of solitude before the day fully begins.
