Original painting was inspired by a month-long hiking and painting journey into the heart of the Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. September proved to be an extraordinary time to explore the high alpine, as the landscape began its dramatic transformation from summer into autumn.
The mountainsides were alive with incredible hues of deep red, warm orange, and brilliant yellow, while western anemones had begun to go to seed. Their distinctive feathery seed heads rose above the changing alpine vegetation, catching the light and adding a delicate, almost whimsical quality to the rugged mountain landscape.
