Original painting 48” x 48” oil on canvas - SOLD

Original painting was inspired by the dramatic landscape along the Kootenay River in British Columbia, a place shaped by both fire and time.

The surrounding slopes still carry the scars of past wildfires, but everywhere there are signs of renewal. Fresh vegetation is slowly returning, light moves across the valley, and the river continues its steady journey through the changing landscape.

What struck me most while painting there was the contrast between destruction and regeneration. Even in areas that at first appear damaged, life is already returning and the landscape is beginning to heal.

For me, this painting is about more than a particular place. It speaks about resilience, change, and renewal, and the quiet strength of nature to rebuild itself after disturbance.
