This painting is inspired by a journey into the mountains of central British Columbia, where the land still carries the marks of recent wildfires. In the distance, the hills rise clear and renewed, while the foreground forest bears the scars of fire—charred trunks and open ground touched by returning light.
What compelled me was the quiet evidence of regeneration. Fresh growth begins to emerge from the darkened forest floor, revealing nature’s steady resilience. The work reflects that contrast—devastation and renewal existing side by side—and the enduring strength of wilderness to restore itself over time.
