Original painting was inspired by a painting expedition into the Mackenzie Mountains near MacMillan Pass in Yukon Territory. I have returned to this remote part of the Canadian North many times over the years, most often during autumn when the landscape is transformed by colour.
The open tundra, rugged mountain ridges, winding valleys, and constantly changing northern light make this an incredible place to explore with a paintbrush. In autumn, the land comes alive with rich reds, oranges, golds, and ochres, creating new compositions everywhere I look.
