Original painting was inspired by an expedition into the eastern Yukon toward the Nahanni Range, where vast marshes and wetlands stretch across the northern tundra beneath an immense open sky.
At first glance, this landscape can appear quiet and understated. There are no dramatic peaks dominating the view, but the longer I spend in places like this, the more I begin to notice their extraordinary beauty—the subtle patterns of water and vegetation, reflections in the wetlands, changing colours, and the incredible sense of space.
In this large studio painting, I wanted to capture that quiet immensity of the northern landscape and the feeling of standing in a place where the horizon seems almost endless.
