This original Yukon landscape painting was inspired by a painting expedition into Canada's northern wilderness. By late August, the Yukon landscape begins its dramatic transformation into autumn, glowing with brilliant harmonies of orange, crimson, and gold.
Burned forests have long fascinated me, both visually and ecologically. The cycle of destruction and renewal is a recurring theme in my work. Here, fire-scarred spruce rise above young Arctic willow bursting with autumn colour—a powerful symbol of nature's resilience and constant evolution.
As wildfires and a changing climate increasingly transform the Canadian North, I feel a growing desire to document these remote wilderness landscapes as I experience them today, before they are changed forever.
