This original painting was inspired by a plein air painting journey into MacMillan Pass along the remote North Canol Road, near the border of Yukon and the Northwest Territories. It is a vast and isolated landscape where the scale and solitude of Canada’s Far North can be experienced in their purest form.
During the brief northern autumn, the landscape undergoes a spectacular transformation as nature prepares for the long winter ahead. The tundra and alpine vegetation ignite with brilliant shades of crimson, orange, gold, and ochre, creating striking contrasts against the distant mountains and expansive northern sky.
