Original painting 36” x 48” oil on canvas - AVAILABLE
Original painting was inspired by various plein air sketches and canoeing adventures on the lakes of Northern Ontario. The ancient Precambrian rock of the Canadian Shield, dotted with windswept pines and surrounded by quiet northern waters, is one of the most iconic landscapes of Eastern Canada.
I have always loved painting this subject. There is something about the rugged rocks, sculptural pines, reflections, and changing light that captures the spirit of the Canadian wilderness.
For me, these landscapes are also very personal. Painting Northern Ontario takes me back to my early roots as a landscape painter in Canada, when exploring and painting the Canadian Shield played an important part in developing my connection to the land and my artistic journey.
