Original painting 36” x 36“ oil on canvas - SOLD

Original painting was inspired by a painting journey into MacMillan Pass in the remote Mackenzie Mountains of Yukon Territory, looking east toward the Northwest Territories.

In this piece, I wanted to capture the incredible vastness of the valleys stretching below the Mackenzie Mountains. In early September, the northern landscape is already beginning its transformation, with the low tundra vegetation shifting into rich reds, oranges, golds, and earthy tones.

I love painting this time of year in the North. The changing colours emphasize the shapes and layers of the land, while the immense valleys and distant mountain ranges create a wonderful sense of space and solitude.
