Original painting was inspired by a plein air painting journey into Nahanni National Park Reserve in Canada’s Far North, a landscape of extraordinary scale, solitude, and beauty.
I have always been fascinated by the patterns that autumn colours create across the mountain slopes. During this brief northern season, the tundra transforms into a rich tapestry of crimson reds, oranges, golds, flowing across the contours of the land and giving the landscape an almost abstract quality.
Autumn in the Far North is spectacular but incredibly short. There is a wonderful intensity to this time of year as nature seems to put on one final display of colour before preparing for the long winter ahead.
