This original painting was inspired by a hiking and plein air painting journey through Manning Provincial Park in British Columbia.
At the height of summer, the alpine meadows come alive with colour and movement. Wildflowers cover the slopes, grasses sway in the mountain breeze, and the air hums with insects during this brief but incredibly vibrant season.
Back in the studio, I drew on my field studies, photographs, and memories to develop this composition. I was especially drawn to the whimsical shapes of the western anemones, rising above the grasses and wildflowers and catching the light. Their delicate forms create a wonderful sense of rhythm and movement throughout the landscape.
