Original painting was inspired by a painting expedition into the Mackenzie Mountains near MacMillan Pass in Yukon Territory. I have returned to this remote part of the Canadian North many times over the years, most often during the autumn season.

There is something about this landscape that keeps drawing me back. In autumn, the tundra comes alive with incredible reds, oranges, golds, and yellows, set against the rugged mountains and vast northern skies. Everywhere you look, there seems to be another composition waiting to be painted.

For me, MacMillan Pass is a place of endless inspiration. Its remoteness, changing light, brilliant autumn colours, and immense sense of space continue to provide me with countless ideas for new paintings.
