Original painting was inspired by many visits to Mystic Beach along the Strait of Juan de Fuca on Vancouver Island, a place I have returned to numerous times for painting, exploration, and inspiration.
I especially love being there in the evening, when the warm light begins to move across the shoreline and the colours of the ocean, rocks, and surrounding forest slowly change. There is a wonderful sense of calm as the day comes to an end and the beach settles into the softer light of evening.
For me, Mystic Beach is a place of peace, solitude, and reflection—a true West Coast sanctuary where the forest meets the Pacific Ocean.
