Original painting 48” x 48” oil on canvas - SOLD

Original painting based on numerous Alaska and by a subject that has followed me since childhood: river valleys and the living landscapes they create.

Rivers have always fascinated me. They are not only carriers of water, but carriers of life—shaping land, sustaining ecosystems, and quietly recording time through erosion, movement, and renewal. In this work, I focused on the flood plains of the Matanuska River, depicted in late autumn, when the land still bears the memory of spring’s powerful floods.

Exposed channels, shifting banks, uprooted trees, and restrained, atmospheric colour harmonies tell a subtle story of water in motion—long after the rush has passed. What remains is a moment of stillness shaped by immense force, a landscape paused between seasons, holding both resilience and quiet tension.
